college courses in after school education and youth development

CT After School Network is pleased to offer stipends of up to $600 toward tuition reimbursement to after school professionals currently working in after school programs in Connecticut who wish to take college credit-based courses that are relevant to their work with children and youth. Courses must be taken at a regionally accredited institution of higher learning in Connecticut. Limit (2) grant applications per person/per semester.

  • Summer courses ending by July19th have an application deadline of   June 15, 2008. 
  • Fall courses beginning in late August that run through October have an application deadline of September 15, 2008.
  • Fall courses that run between October and December have an application deadline of November 15, 2008.
  • Full semester courses beginning in late August/early September and ending in December have an application deadline of November 15, 2008.

A new concentration in Child and Youth Development for after school and youth work professionals has been added. It builds on the Credential in After School Education.  Click here for Brochure

The credential requirements include a series of four three-credit courses (12 credits) in After School Education through the distance learning program at Charter Oak State College, compilation of a professional resource file and 240 hours of experience working in an after school program. (Experience can be gained from taking a practicum equal to 3 credits, or by demonstrating evidence of existing recent experience and taking a one credit practicum).

Each course is taken entirely online.
